Visitors to the Pacific Northwest will be greeted with the top

Spokane, Olympia and more. The Puget Sound area offers a rich variety
of vacation, recreational and holiday pursuits including big-city
life, island retreats, cozy bed and breakfasts, romantic country
inns and first class resorts. There is plenty of sightseeing, hiking,
kayaking, and boating activities to keep in shape and make one
wish for a longer Puget Sound holiday.
Washington offers a wide assortment of activities ranging from
things you love to things you have never tried before. Outdoor
enthusiasts will appreciate offering from world class hiking, fishing
and sailing to calm picturesque golf courses that will challenge
the most experienced of player.
Spokane lies in the northeast region of Washington and offers
a different angle on the state. The region, which is bounded on
the south by the Columbia Basin, is an ecological wonderland. There
are more than 35 parks and wildlife areas throughout the region,
including Indian Rock Paintings State Park and Riverside State
Park, near Spokane, featuring off-road, all-season riding areas
and numerous hiking trails.
The northern section of this region is rich in historical and
ecological landmarks as well. National forests make up the bulk
of this area and include attractions such as Kettle Falls and the
Sherman Pass Byway, a 35-mile network of heritage sites, wildlife
areas and spectacular vistas.
On the opposite side of Washington is the southwest region. Southwest
Washington is Lewis and Clark territory, a land rich in American
heritage. Interpretive markers trace the explorers’ last
100 miles to the Pacific Ocean. Known for fertile estuaries and
the Willapa National Wildlife Reserve, Southwest Washington is
characterized by small towns and century-old landmarks. Meriwether
Lewis’s notes refer to this region as “the most desirable
location for a settlement west of the Rocky Mountains.”
